At a glance
Pack comfortable clothes, a light extra layer, rain protection, suitable walking shoes and the documents you need. Confirm luggage space and any specialist equipment before accepting a transport quote.
Build a small working wardrobe
Choose clothing that works in several combinations and can be washed during the trip. Take something suitable for covering shoulders and knees when a place of worship requests it. A light layer is useful when your route includes cooler places or air-conditioned transport. Check the forecast for your actual stops shortly before leaving.
Give each pair of shoes a purpose
Comfortable walking shoes matter more than a separate pair for every occasion. Think about uneven paths, steps, wet surfaces and taking shoes off at religious sites. If a walk needs specialist footwear or equipment, ask the activity provider before deciding what to bring.
Keep a useful day bag close
Carry drinking water, sun protection, a light rain layer, required medication and a charged phone on travel days. Keep essential documents and valuables with you rather than in unattended luggage. Ask your accommodation about refill options and avoid adding disposable items you can easily replace with reusable ones.
Confirm the luggage before the vehicle
Count suitcases, day bags, pushchairs and mobility equipment separately from passengers. Send the list with your enquiry. A vehicle category alone does not tell you whether the boot will hold your bags, and an extra seat is not automatically safe luggage space.
Leave room for the practical details
Save an accessible copy of meeting instructions, accommodation addresses and useful contacts. Check charging needs against the accommodation you will use. Keep prescribed medication in its original packaging and check any destination or transit restrictions with the relevant official source; this checklist does not establish permission to carry a medicine.
Repack once with the itinerary in hand
Walk through a normal day of your trip and remove things with no clear use. Leave capacity for purchases. If part of the route involves boats, walks or a change of vehicle, ask how luggage is handled and what you should carry yourself.
