Jaffna is a northern Sri Lanka base for Tamil heritage, city visits and peninsula outings. Two or three nights is a suggested starting point; island visits need their own planning.
Start with the city
Pair Nallur Kandaswamy Temple with Jaffna Fort and time in the city streets. Keep worship spaces distinct from sightseeing stops: follow local dress rules, ask about photography and let religious activity set the pace.
Give the peninsula a separate day
Choose a coastal outing or a drive towards Point Pedro instead of squeezing distant stops into a city afternoon. Share your interests before choosing the route: heritage, food and time at the water create very different days.

Add islands thoughtfully
Nainativu and Delft are separate outings, not interchangeable ferry stops. Review the departure point, return arrangements, weather and transport at the destination. Mannar also deserves its own road allowance on a wider northern journey.
Choose a comfortable way to explore
A tuk-tuk can suit a local outing; a car or van may work better for luggage, longer distances or your group. Tell us about heat, walking and access needs when requesting your plan.
